Be Your Best – Meath GAA
With a focus on Long Term Player Development Meath GAA engaged with Paul and Match-Fit in 2012 in order to offer guidance as regards the structure and practical application of a long term approach to the youth footballers in the development squads from U13 to U21. From 2012 to 2016 Paul worked with the management teams and coaches within the development squad structures to introduce the concept of Long Term Player Development and to ensure that everyone involved was at ease with the approach as well as understanding the practical implications across the training year and in each training session. The resulting process meant that coaches actively bought into new practices and approaches that ensured that the training and coaching programs for each squad were age and stage relevant and linked with player needs as a collective and individuals. This was not only manifested in the S&C programming but also in technical/tactical coaching plans. Towards the end of the 4-year involvement a LTPD pathway for Meath GAA was produced on the back of and platformed by the practices introduced, implemented and improved over the 4-year period.
"I had the pleasure of working with Paul for three years at Meath GAA, overseeing and implementing a Talent Academy Programme to develop our young players.
Paul’s ability to identify and correct movement patterns was unlike any I’ve seen before and made a dramatic difference to to the performance and wellbeing of the players. His attention to detail in programme planning meant all our players were catered for on an individual basis.
Paul would be a true asset for any positions requiring Athlete Development & Sports Performance and comes with my heartfelt recommendation."
