All the Glitters

When talking to coaches, be they S&C or other coaches  in charge of physical fitness programs, about player monitoring tools one of the first questions is inevitably “can it measure collisions/impacts??. My stock answer is “why do you want that??” Generally the answer can be quite wooly and in many cases it is putting the cart way before the horse. It’s always good to ask “why?” around such features and whilst I, for one, will not cast aspersion on any product or features this recent study involving Tim Gabbett is interesting. It counsels caution around putting too many eggs in the baskets that have yet to be fully validated. New metrics are great…..but it’s good to ask questions!
